Finding Your Writing Groove

Staring at the computer screen, sweaty palms, knotted up stomach, and nothing productive to say…

Practice writing…

Write for the trash…

Solve problems…

Be persuasive…

Be ethical…

Tell them what they want to hear…

Be honest…

Do this…

Don’t do that…

You SUCK!

You’re great!!!

Jump in and get your feet wet…

Look before you leap!

So many conflicting theories and advisors out there.

Right now I am writing for writing’s sake.

I have been going over and over, again, my options and what they mean for me and my future and I see roadblocks and pain no matter what.

I also see that there is lots of joy and wonder in all things too.

I am planning and practicing this skill of writing for money.

Sounds almost dirty to say it like that… I write… for MONEY!

Don’t judge me!

It is legal.

It is probably never read by anyone anywhere.

What worry do I have then?

I don’t want to waste time but I also don’t want to sit idle.

I have an extremely small list of email subscribers that I haven’t written anything to for about a week or two.

I tried to get them to buy an affiliate product I was promoting and no one did, no one even clicked the order form link!

It is only 50-something people and I am not even certain they are all people.

I acquired most of them through a solo ad but I don’t know if it is a bunch of bots or safelist accounts or what but I do know that I am not getting anything out of them without writing to them!

I’ve tried thinking about what I can do for them but I really don’t know what they want and I don’t know how to find out.

I don’t know the right questions to ask to find out what they want and what to do once they tell me.

I can fix acute problems but once there are multiple steps involved like what to write, who to write it to, what to write it about…

I know, I know, too much whining and not enough forward movement.

I am working on the PLR content for selling. I have lots of it and I need to put it to work.

There are some minor tweaks I need to make and some graphics that need to be changed but it is busy work and I will still have to face the fact that I have no audience nor any idea where to find them and then how to approach them and convince them why they need to buy from me!

I don’t want to be busy with the graphics and minor busy work, I want to be writing stuff to get them to buy and seeing what works and what doesn’t.

Tracking everything is not easy.

Figuring out what to change, and being able to afford to keep bringing traffic that isn’t even buying or signing up for my email list.

So, my main goal should be learning how to find qualified leads.

Good copywriting is the tool I am going to implement once I’ve identified where my audience is and my copy will have hooks in it to get leads from the sources I find.

I will probably take this realization over to AI and work out an actual plan of attack that makes sense.

Quora, reddit, facebook groups, and forums are the places I am going to hunt for leads.

I can find a common question people have about marketing and create a landing page out of it that squeezes out their email and name in order for them to get the answers from me, or something like that.

But, I still need to find the questions.

It seems like I know where to go to start looking but again, how do I find the real questions that people are asking pertaining to marketing?

When I go to Facebook groups and look for questions I mostly find other marketers trying to do the same thing I am doing and no one is there to get help with marketing, it is almost like the “gurus” have created a pond of fish where they can go and start reeling ’em in all by themselves! Or else they don’t really know what they are doing either!

Adwords keyword tool is something more reliable but still going to be a bit difficult without clear directions.

No one is coming with the instruction manual, in English, either, anyway.

If I get keyword ideas from google and find some questions in there I may be able to do something from there.

If I find low competition and low cost keywords that I can use to generate enough traffic I could potentially get a flow of warm traffic that way.

Here I go again, theorizing without any real evidence or experience to speak of.
